Making an entry
- Choose the log type and enter a heading or short description.
- The current date and time are filled automatically. GPS can also fill automatically after the browser receives permission.
- Add the details that matter, then press Save Entry.
- Use the search box and log-type filter to find older entries. Each saved entry can be edited, copied, or deleted.
Where the working logbook lives
Edgewater Radio does not receive or keep a master copy of your entries. The normal working copy is stored inside this browser on this device.
A bookmark saves only the page address; it does not save the log entries.
The browser copy can be lost by clearing browser or site data, uninstalling the browser, using private/incognito mode,
resetting or replacing the device, or losing the device.
The four kinds of copies
Portable Logbook (.html)
A complete readable logbook with the program and current entries in one file. It opens in a browser without this website or the internet.
Data Backup (.json)
The complete restorable data file. Use it with Restore Data Backup to rebuild or merge the entries.
Spreadsheet (.csv)
A readable table for spreadsheet programs. It is not the proper restore file.
Print or PDF
A fixed human-readable copy useful for paper records. It is not editable or restorable.
Saving files on a tablet or phone
- Press Download Portable Logbook (.html) and Download Data Backup (.json).
- Open the device’s Files app and look in Downloads.
- Confirm the dated
.html and .json files are actually present.
- Copy them to a second safe place such as Google Drive, an SD card, USB storage, a computer, or another device.
- Keep several dated copies. Do not replace the only working backup.
Opening a portable copy
Tap the downloaded .html file and choose a web browser. The embedded entries can be searched, printed, exported,
and edited without contacting Edgewater Radio. Because the original entries are embedded in that file, changes made afterward
are not permanently written back into the old file. Before closing an edited portable copy, download a new portable copy or JSON backup.
Restoring from JSON
Open the Edgewater logbook page or a portable copy, press Restore Data Backup (.json),
and select the saved JSON file. Imported entries are merged by their entry identifiers rather than blindly erasing newer entries.
